Elwynn Forest overview

Theme: The Defias Brotherhood, kobolds from Jasperlode Mine and Riverpaw gnolls.

The tutorial zone and the only one open on a new class. Early waves are Kobold Vermin, Young Wolves and Murloc Streamrunners that die in one or two hits. By the third minute you meet Defias Thugs and Riverpaw Brutes, and wolf packs start hunting you across the open fields.

The start of an Elwynn Forest run: nothing happens until you move, and the first boss is 3 minutes away. Captured from wow.aethus.pl, v0.106.0, October 21, 2026. Game by Aethus.

Elwynn Forest bosses

Five bosses per zone, the last one is the zone's final boss. In Elwynn Forest the character screen lists their arrival times, and the top of the screen counts down to the next one.

Elwynn Forest loot

Elwynn Forest drops Common gear for the class you play. Each boss carries one piece, every piece rolls on its own, and a duplicate adds nothing: in Elwynn Forest each boss showed a 60% chance for its piece (for a Warrior — Hogger: helm, Mother Fang: pauldrons, Rhahk’Zor: breastplate, Mr. Smite: girdle, Edwin VanCleef: main hand). Gear is kept per class and its bonuses apply when worn. See gear and drop tables.

Elwynn Forest drop table for a Warrior: one common piece per boss at 60%. Captured from wow.aethus.pl, v0.106.0, October 21, 2026. Game by Aethus.

What to watch for in Elwynn Forest

  • Hogger arrives at 3:00, Mother Fang at 6:00, Rhahk’Zor at 9:00, Mr. Smite at 12:00 and Edwin VanCleef at 16:00.
  • Mr. Smite and Edwin VanCleef both have extra phase lines, so expect them to change behaviour partway through the fight.
  • Packs: our first Warrior run died at 2:44 to "A pack hunts you!" in open ground near the Tower of Azora.

Clearing Elwynn Forest opens Duskwood for that class. After a win you can also choose “Keep fighting (endless)”.
