Hunter overview
The Hunter pairs ranged damage with the second-highest health pool (240). Auto Shot fires on its own, Multi-Shot and Volley cover groups, and traps control the ground behind you. Beast Mastery adds a wolf and later a raptor that fight beside you.
Strengths
- 240 starting health with ranged attacks
- Traps root, slow and explode behind you as you kite
- Pets in Beast Mastery add damage you do not have to aim
Watch out for
- Damage drops if you stop to fight in melee
- Trap-heavy builds need you to lead enemies over them
Hunter spell pool
Every level-up deals three cards. A new spell card takes one of your 6 spell slots; an upgrade card improves a spell you already know and ranks it up. Card rarity (Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary) decides how strong the bonus is. These are the 11 spells the Hunter can be offered:
- Auto ShotStarting spell
- Arcane Shot
- Multi-ShotEarly pick
- Serpent StingEarly pick
- VolleyEarly pick
- Explosive TrapEarly pick
- Concussive Shot
- Aimed Shot
- Immolation Trap
- Frost Trap
- Hunter's MarkEarly pick
Early picks are our suggestions for a first run. Spells cast on their own: you only move, and each spell fires when it is off cooldown and enemies are in range.
Hunter talent trees
Talents are permanent and per class. Every run pays your Hunters talent experience (time survived, kills, bosses, a win, and more in harder zones); the first point arrives at 80 experience and a class can earn 51 points. A new row opens for every 5 points spent in a tree, and the milestones at 10, 20 and 30 points change how your spells behave. Respecs are free, and the Armory keeps three specs.
Values written as X grow with each rank; the game shows the exact number when you point at a talent. Use theHunter talent calculator to plan points.

Alliance
Night Elf
Quickness gives +8% movement speed for kiting, and Shadowmeld grants 3 sec of immunity near death.
Horde

Horde
Troll
Berserking speeds up cooldowns by 30% for 10 sec and Regeneration adds 1.5 health per second.

Hunter gear set and weapons
Bosses drop Hunter gear that stays with the class for good: 54 pieces across nine slots and six rarities, from Elwynn Forest commons to Naxxramas legendaries. The set name changes with each tier:
Weapon line:
Where each tier drops: gear and drop tables.
A first Hunter run
Keep moving in wide circles so Auto Shot always has a target behind you. Explosive Trap and Multi-Shot clear the groups that follow.
Pick a race from the list above, enter Elwynn Forest, and aim to see the first boss, Hogger, at 3:00. Even a short run pays talent experience. Compare with the other classes: Warrior, Paladin, Rogue, Priest, Shaman, Mage, Warlock, Druid.
